Responsibilities and duties

Senior Care Assistants provide an essential role in contributing to the smooth running of our residential care homes for older people. Our Senior staff lead on the social care and support for our residents.

Reporting to the Home Manager, Senior Care Assistants are responsible for allocating duties to a team of Health Care Assistants – acting as a role model in the delivery and promotion of best practice at all times. They may also provide personal care to our residents and support their nutrition, mobility and well-being.

Once assessed as competent under the guidance of the Home Manager, the Senior Care Assistant would also be required to undertake clinical tasks which may include:

  • Checking blood sugar levels;
  • Change a simple dressings;
  • PEG feeding;
  • Medication administration;
  • Basic Observations;
  • Catheter care;
